A one day workshop during which I’ll guide you through making everything you need for at least one pair of earrings made of porcelain and silver, similar to the designs pictured.

You'll make the porcelain elements in the morning, rolling out, then cutting shapes from porcelain clay. These will be left with me to dry and be fired at a later date.

In the afternoon you'll make some simple units out of sterling silver and a pair of silver ear wires. For this you’ll be using hand tools, a jewellers torch and some larger jewellery forming equipment to cut out, texture and form the silver. There is no soldering involved.

At the end of the session you will have some silver pieces, ear wires and jump rings and know how to assemble your jewellery when you receive your porcelain pieces after they’ve been fired.

Suitable for all levels from complete beginner to those with more experience. You won’t need any special skills but you’ll pick up some basic silversmithing techniques. This is a great opportunity to make a unique personal handmade gift for someone, or a beautifully unique piece of jewellery to add to your collection.

You should be happy to use your fingers and tools to manipulate wire and sheet and to use or learn how to use tools such as files and hammers.

All tools will be provided, although if you already have jewellery making hand tools you might like to bring them.

Included in the cost of the workshop is one piece of sterling silver sheet, some wire, jump rings and a ball of porcelain, sufficient to make at least one pair of earrings and probably more. There will be an opportunity to purchase more silver to make more ear wires or earrings if you have time.

Please bring an apron and your reading glasses (if you need them) for close work!
No open toe shoes can be worn while working in the studio.
If you have long hair please remember to bring something to tie it back with.
